Playa Blanca is the southern most resort on the popular holiday island of Lanzarote. Located right at the bottom tip, just across the Bocaina Straits from the neighbouring Canary Island of Fuerteventura. And is rapidly emerging as the fastest growing destination on Lanzarote.
Playa Blanca was little more than a quiet and quaint little fishing village just twenty years ago. But today all that has changed. As development has transformed the area into a bustling resort. Boasting a great selection of hotels and some of the most luxurious holiday villas in Lanzarote.
The key to Playa Blanca´s popularity lies in its excellent beaches. The best of which is located at nearby Papagayo – around fifteen minutes walk from the centre of the resort. Where tourists will find a number of separate coves to explore – all with fine golden sand and their own individual identity.
Back in the resort itself visitors are very well served by a tempting triumvirate of beaches in the form of Playa Dorada, Playa Blanca (from which the town takes its name) and Playa Flamingo. Which was badly damaged by Tropical Storm Delta a few years back but which is now being restored to its full former glory.
The entire resort is united by a seafront promenade that is great for strolling along and enjoying the views across to Fuerteventura. Which can be reached by ferries that run regularly from the harbour are in the centre of the town. The crossing only takes thirty minutes and this enables tourists to visit not just one but two Canary Islands.
The best choice of holiday villas in Playa Blanca can be found in areas such as Montaña Roja. Which enjoy an elevated position and so grant great views down to the sea. Accommodation here is also fairly affordable due to the fact that many overseas investors have snapped up rental properties in the resort over the last few years. Creating a good deal of competition and decent deals for holidaymakers in the process. With prices for a typical two bed villa with private pool starting from around £450 per week.
Playa Blanca offers plenty for visitors to do. The resort boasts a wide selection of restaurants and a luxury marina, the Marina Rubicon. Which first opened for business back in 2004 and which provides mooring for lots of luxury yachts. Lanzarote´s number one tourist attraction, the Timanfaya National Park, is also just a short drive away for anyone keen to get out and about exploring the island.

Its a great place to visit and was instrumental in us comming over to live in Spain after we visited in November 2001 safe to say we were living in Spain by April 6 2002.
I would certianly recommend it.
I am hoping to get back and do a tour of the islands in the not too distant future.
