Hi there
I just arrived from a 3 night short break in central London and I am writing about my experience at the Shaftesbury Hyde Park International hotel.
Well, before actually booking this hotel I did a lot of research because I wanted to find a centrally located hotel, with good service and value for money. I decided to go for the Shaftesbury Metropolis London Hyde Park International due to good reviews and location. However when we arrived at the hotel to check in, the receptionist informed us that there was no room available!! Well after 3 hours delay, 3 hours flight and 1 hour drive to arrive at this hotel, the last thing one would not expect would be to get to know that you are being transferred to another unknown hotel! If no room was available and we booked 4 days in advance, the management of the hotel should have contacted us and informed us telephonically about the situation since contact numbers are there to be used! Well at that time we were so tired that we simply accepted the offer.
Location:
In our opinion the location of the Shaftesbury Hyde Park International is perfect. Let me tell you why. At the end of the road (around 1 minute walk) you find yourself in Bayswater road in front of Hyde Park, which is a great park to visit during your stay in London. Oxford Street is just around 5 minutes away by taxi and costs approximately £7 each way. In the street parallel (Queensway) one can find the underground station and a lot of shops including fast food restaurants, souvenir shops, and the Whiteley shopping centre above others.
The hotel is decorated nicely and modernly. Even the rooms are good value for money with an LCD screen in every room with a lot of TV stations to choose from. Rooms are equipped with all the necessities. LCD TV, tea and coffee facilities, iron board, cosy bed, nice bathroom with shower and air condition. Breakfast is served downstairs, and they serve buffet hot and cold breakfast with the basic items such as bacon, sausages, sometimes scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, yoghurt, crossaints, coffee, orange juice and tea. One honest tip: book this hotel on a bed and breakfast basis not room only – if you buy the breakfast by itself I think it is expensive!

Overall Opinion:
Well, considering central location, hotel amenities and price I would recommend it to everyone visiting London for a short break and who wants to be centrally located near all amenities. We’re going in two months’ time again… and you?
